Time to be confirmed
Christmas magic is coming to Short Heath Playing Fields! 🎄✨
This December, we’re delighted to be welcoming Santa Claus himself to Short Heath for a very special festive event for local children and families.
🎅 MEET SANTA!
This is your little ones’ chance to meet Santa, say hello and tell him exactly what they would like for Christmas! 🎁
Whether they’ve been dreaming of a favourite toy, a new bike, something sparkly or perhaps just a Christmas filled with magic, Santa will be ready to hear all about their Christmas wishes. ❤️
We want to create a lovely, magical afternoon where families can come together, enjoy the festive atmosphere and make some wonderful Christmas memories.
🎄 HELP US KEEP SHFT EVENTS FREE
To help us continue putting on fun, family-friendly events for our local community throughout the year, we will be asking for a minimum donation of (price to be confirmed soon) per child.
Every donation makes a difference and helps SHFT raise the funds needed to keep bringing these special events to Short Heath and, wherever possible, keep them free for everyone to enjoy. ❤️
More details, including the confirmed times and donation amount, will be announced soon.
So save the date, tell the children, and get ready for a little bit of Christmas magic at Short Heath! 🎅✨🎄
We can't wait to welcome you all! ❤️

Wow, what a fantastic day! ☀️
The Short Heath Fields Trust (SHFT) team put on an amazing event at our wonderful playing fields, and what a brilliant day it was!
A huge thank you to everyone who came along and got involved. You were amazing! 🙌
There were plenty of traditional sports day favourites, including egg & spoon, sack races, relay races and three-legged races. And it wasn't just the children having all the fun, the grown-ups joined in too! 😄
🏅 Lots of medals were won and handed out to those taking part, along with plenty of lollipops!
The sports equipment was also very well used and enjoyed by everyone, with soft archery, football, softball, volleyball, Swingball and a bouncy castle providing lots of fun and entertainment throughout the day.
🎪 Our stalls were selling all kinds of goods, alongside hook-a-duck, food, drinks and ice cream and everything you need for a great family day out!
Families enjoyed picnics in the sunshine, and it was fantastic to see everyone relaxing, having fun and making memories together. ❤️
If you pop over to our Facebook page, you'll also find pictures posted by families showing some of the fun they shared during the day. 📸
A very successful, enjoyable and memorable day was had by all!

🎉 WELCOME TO THE SHFT TEAM, PAM! 🎉
It is with great pleasure that the Short Heath Fields Trust (SHFT) team welcomes Pamela Louise O’Shea to our committee! 💚
Pam joins the SHFT team as our new Event Coordinator and has already been a fantastic help in putting together our recent, very successful Picnic in the Park event.
Pam said:
"I like what SHFT do here at Short Heath Playing Fields for the children and their families, and I would love to help and be a part of what is being done by SHFT."
With her enthusiasm and passion for organising events, Pam will be helping us build on our current programme of free community events, as well as looking at exciting possibilities for new events in the future.
One idea we are currently exploring is a Christmas Fayre, with the possibility of Santa popping by to say hello! 🎅🎄
It's still early days, but we'll keep you posted and let you know if and when it goes ahead.
Please join us in giving Pam a very warm welcome to the SHFT Team! 👏💚
We're delighted to have you on board, Pam, and look forward to seeing what we can achieve together for our community! 🌳⚽️👨👩👧👦

We had an amazing day at the Picnic in the Park on the 28th of June.
Stalls were set up selling alsorts of things, soft archery and volley ball was availble for the kids to have fun with.
We had a guinea pig and tortoise for the kids to meet, unfortunately the sheep were not allowed to come due to a DEFRA ban on wildstock movement.
I think the ice cream van nearly sold out as it was that warm and sunny.
And we raised some money to help a sick pony, so thank you.
A huge thank you to everone who came along and a massive thank you to the SHFT team and in particular to Jason our new commitee member for taking the lead on setting up this event.
There are a few pictures here from the day.
See you all at the next event, School Sports Day 2026, this one is always a fun day and gives the kids a chance to have a go at the egg and spoon race, sack race and the 3 legged race, plus much more!

31.05.2026: Travellers Update & The Big Clean Up
We are please to tell you that the travellers have moved on from Short Heath Playing Fields.
Unfortunately they haven`t gone far only as far as Court Lane to Short Heath Park. I have reported this too.
I am constantly amazed at our incredible community, before the SHFT team could get to the playing fields after the travellers had gone, there were people from the local community already there litter picking.
Thank you to everyone that came down to help and to the SHFT team for returning Saturday morning to get it all moved into one pile for the council and finish of the litter picking.
There were three fly tips left by the travellers in Bleak Hill Park and these have been report to the council for removal also.
I want to say that what this terrible event at Short Heath Playing Fileds has shown from the actions of our community and the online responce on our social media, is how much these wonderful green spaces mean to you all.
